In 1972 we began recycling liquid organic wastes on to our own farm at Marlbrook using just tractors and tankers. When Mike got his HGV and Liz qualified as a transport manager in 1979 we added tanker lorries to our fleet, enabling us to expand our range of services.. We provide waste disposal and recycling for food and drinks producers, water companies, and local councils. We also empty septic tanks, bio-discs and cesspits for households throughout Herefordshire and the adjacent counties.

We have developed a Waste Transfer Station at Marlbrook, comprising 5 storage tanks, within a protective bund, with a total capacity of 100,000gallons. This facility helps us to reduce waste transported to treatment works and landfill and maximise its use for recycling.

Just recently we have invested in a screener/macerator made by The Haigh Engineering Company from Ross on Wye. The screener removes all debris from the waste and improves the quality recycled to land for crop nutrition.

Both the Waste Transfer Station and The Screener Projects were partly funded by DEFRA through the Rural Enterprise Scheme and Rural Enterprise Grant scheme through Herefordshire Council.

We are working in partnership with the farmers of Herefordshire and the surrounding counties recycling good organic matter which adds nutrition to the soil, reducing the need for oil-based artificial fertilisers! We are cutting the cost of transport recycling locally produced waste to local farmland.

We are combining our skills with R C Middleton and Son to create a specialist service recycling liquid organic waste and digestate from anaerobic digesters to farmland.

RC Middleton & Son have invested in the latest equipment using state-of-the-art GPS systems to provide our customers with accurate umbilical sludge spreading plus total compliance with legislation.

John Davies of E & J Solutions Ltd, provides specialist advice in planning and developing AD plants, agronomy and waste utilisation. He works with us providing compliance with Environment Agency permitting legislation.

We are committed to:

  • Working towards meeting Herefordshire councils target in minimizing waste and treating waste as a resource.
  • Reducing landfill costs and transport
  • Maximising by-products to be acceptable for recycling.
  • An improved and more cost effective service to local businesses and households.
  • A sustainable service to local farmers to enhance the fertility of their soil using organic based material.
